During my final exam revision week I’ve spent two days to work on a side project called OctoMonitor, an iOS app that notifies you with the changes of status of GitHub services.

It features a minimal UI design, in which you can tell the status of GitHub (good, minor or major as returned from GitHub status API) simply by the color. It offers a Today Widget so you can access it from the Notification Center, without launching the main app. The app does Background Fetch regularly when it’s not running to check the latest status of GitHub, and fires a local notification in case of status changes. And of course, it’s fully open source GitHub! Check it out here if you are interested.

The 1.0 version of this app has been submitted to iOS App Store and should be available for download soon.
